The article is devoted to the 80th anniversary of the renowned Soviet and Russian latinoamericanist E. A. Larin. It contains the fragments of his memories about the leaders of the Cuban revolution, his work in Cuba in 1963–1969. His monographs and essays on the Cuban revolution, Latin American civilization are analyzed.
