PABLO ESCOBAR: PORTRAIT OF THE COLOMBIAN DRUG LORD
The article deals with the fate of the famous leader of the drug mafia in the modern world – Pablo Escobar, his ties with the US mafia, CIA, government and the security forces of Colombia, the role of drug lord in the creation of the Colombian "death squads", the fight against the guerrilla armies FARC and ELN. The real personage of the drug cartel leader is counterposed to the "Hollywood" image, created in the framework of the "classic" apologia of evil and violence in the contemporary Western culture.
