The article is devoted to the initial period of political activity of Fulgencio Batista, which ensured him the loyalty and patronage of the ruling circles of the United States for many years. Another important direction of the article is the so-called «left» period in Batista's political activity, when the Cuban Communist party even had to consider the question of the «degree» of his leftism and decided to change in its assessments «the period of struggle against Batista» to «the period of support for Batista».
