THE GEOGRAPHICAL PERIOD IN BOLIVIA: THE TRAVELS OF JOSE MANUEL PANDO
The work tries to demonstrate that at the end of the 19th century there was a marked interest, the result of the territorial loss with Chile, to settle the sovereignty of the country in the border areas. The economic importance of rubber in the region of northwestern Bolivia provoked concern from the government that sent official explorations aimed at delimiting the borders and promoting the presence of the state that was being threatened by the incursion of Brazilian and Peruvian rubber tappers.
