The Chilean political situation in the late 1930s inevitably led to the creation of a center-left-wing union capable of offering the country a social and political alternative to the right-conservative course of the union of liberals and conservatives in power. The efforts of the left forces increased in this direction and led to the emergence of the Left parliamentary bloc, out of which the Chilean communists turned out to be doctrinal and situational reasons. The adoption at the Seventh Comintern Congress of a new course on the Popular Front “from below” and “from above” gave a decisive impetus to the unifying tendencies within the left forces. This article is devoted to the role of the Comintern in the difficult way of the Chilean Communist Party  to create the Popular Front in Chile and its victory in the elections of 1938.
