Данная работа исследует участие основных издателей ведущих газет в «крестовом походе» против коммунизма. В статье рассматривается роль программ ЦРУ, при посредстве которых США получали политическое сотрудничество собственников главных газет региона. Важную роль в этом процессе сыграло Межамериканское общество прессы (Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa – SIP), как ключевой механизм в стратегии США в контроле над медийным пространством на континенте. Это общество действовало как картель собственников, главной задачей которого была дестабилизация прогрессивных и антиимпериалистических правительств в Латинской Америке. Отдельного внимания заслужила антикоммунистическая деятельность таких персонажей как Жюль Дюбуа и Эудосио Равинес, сотрудничавшие с SIP, выступавшие как видные фигуры защиты свободы прессы, но при этом оправдывавшие экспансионистские действия США в регионе.
