PARAGUAY: FROM LIBERALISM TO EGALITARISM
This article examines the ideology and policy of the Supreme Dictator of the Paraguayan Republic J.Y. de Francia. His clearly defined objectives allowed him to maintain Paraguayan independence and create a nation. Special attention is paid to his attempts to create in Paraguay a relatively egalitarian rural society, the most “level” society in Latin America.
